Yes we use acid and dip car bodies and parts in acid.
Most callers are focused on the “acid” part of the process. Seems the misconception is that acid does it all. Not the case for our process. Yes, the acid is a very important part of the process. However, the acid is really a minor part of the cleaning.
The acid does not remove the paint or fillers or other things.
The acid dipping part of the process treats the rust and neutralizes the base paint removal chemical.
The acid bath that we have is virtually equal to Coke or Pepsi. Most sodas have phosphoric acid in them. That’s what our acid is. Phosphoric acid is used in most sodas, in water treatment, fertilizers, as a food additive, and many many other very common uses.
The acid is not the chemical to focus on. The important one for that is the caustic solution. The caustic solution and the heat are what do the most cleaning.
